Stuart Anderson, one of the top thinkers on immigration policy, has written a new paper for the National Foundation for American Policy entitled "A New Immigrant Entrepreneur Visa Aimed at Job Creation in America". Unlike the EB-5 investor visa, this one would be aimed at encouraging start up businesses that create jobs as opposed to looking stictly at maximizing the dollars invested. USCIS is reporting that as of November 6th, 54,900 H-1Bs had been issued against the 65,000 annual quota. While this represents a dramatic drop in H-1B applications over previous years. In 2007, nearly 200,000 applications were filed in the first week applications were open and in 2009, the application period is now in its seventh month. Usage seems to be about 1,000 cases a week so we're probably looking at January or February to run out of numbers. Incidentally, yesterday I was the moderator of a panel on the impact of the global recession on national migration policies in Amsterdam....

If the new bill gets approved when will it likely take affect? I just had my LC approved today and they are going to file I-140. Before the EB-3 retrogression for all nationalities i was told i-140 an i-485 could be filed at the same time. what impact does the new bill have on my situation?

I work for one of the biggest software companies which deals with PERM cases a lot. However, my case got audit notice and I'm really confused now.
My PD is Jan-19-2009 and I received my audit notice in 11/2009, and we replied in 12/2009. I just learnt today that it might be very likely to take more than 2 years to clear such a case and there is possibility to be denied.
I'm very worried that I might lose my PD, is it really true that my case won't be cleared for at least another year?

One of the stand out football players for the United States Military Academy at West Point is junior Alejandro Villanueva, a Spaniard who played high school football in Belgium. The wide receiver is also the tallest player in all of college football - 6 foot, 10 inches. Villanueva will have to serve five years in the Army after graduating and will probably be deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq. Hopefully, he'll still be able to have a shot at the pros when he is finished.

No, it does not mean that it is approved.

We are among the July filers. TSC applications went to VSC and back to TSC. My wife and I both got our EADs. Social Sceurity office told my wife that her A# is bringing up someone else's data. We went to Infopass, but it was of no help and we were adviced to contact or write to TSC. We placed a service request by calling the national phone number. That was more than two weeks back. Nothing has happened yet. All three applications - 485, EAD, AP has the same wrong A#. Her EAD is of no value without the correct A# that has to be rectified at the 485 stage and then EAD. Any suggestions?

I am travelling to Penang on the 14th September, and I wonder how long it will take the consulate to process this visa application. Also, if I take the papers on a Friday morning, are they open for me to collect the visa on a Saturday ?
