I have mailed 17 more individual signed letters to WH address this afternoon and copy of these 17 signed letters in one envelope to IV address. Good to see new date. I will continue to get as many as I can before this new date.
Collected 11 signatures during NJ trip and I guess these will go into NJ account..and 6 signatures from FL [11(NJ)+07(FL)=17]

My suggestion would be.
If your PD is After Jan 2004, you better get started and look for a position in EB2. If your PD is before Jan 2004, you wait and watch until end of this year and then make a informed decision. But in the long run , it makes lot of sense to be in EB2 if your job requirement is eligible for it.
Also take a look at the trend of the PERM processing. as per 2007 stats 40% of the cases got struck in audit process.

However, I do accept that the frequency of EB3-EB2 porting has increased slightly due to more US companies outsourcing IT jobs (bad economy -> more outsourcing to reduce costs{check the stock of CTSH!} -> demand for consultants -> resulting in firms like CTSH and small consulting companies agreeing to EB3-EB2 porting to keep talent). Outsourcing will not always result in all the US jobs to completely move to outsourced countries (I guess smart people in this forum already know that).
There will be spillover this year and EB2 PD reaching DEC 2006 by end of FY2011 is a real possiblity. There is no need for EB2s to get all worked up when somebody ports or EB3s to get worked up when somebody talks about spillover. There is GC pie for everybody. Just be patient or do something to solve fundamental problems with GC process ( by participating in IV campaign).

Hi, I have a question about PERM labor process. How soon can an employer apply PERM labor certification after hiring an employee?
Anytime, no restriction whatsoever but sometime is need to advertise and do other paper work formality.

Lets not bash anyone here. IEEE might sound anti-immigrant on the surface in true sense, its only anti H1B for all the right reason. I am not trying to defend IEEE but just getting the facts straight. Please check the attached file which is a letter sent by IEEE-USA president to Gov of Minnasota.

What they really want is to restrict immigration to the most exceptional foreign scientists and engineers (roughly those who would qualify for EB1), and make the path to a GC faster for them. They are dead opposed to foreigners being hired for general engineering jobs, and the current practise of almost everyone on an H1-B being eligible to apply for a GC. I would think twice before calling them a friend to any of us; they are at best anti free-trade restrictionists minus the rabidity and political incorrectness of our "friends". I agree. I realized that I was paying too much for my MBA from a top 15 school and I decided to put on hold for that exactly same reason. I received job offers from employers which were willing to pay 100% of the MBA. Of course I had to decline due to my status.
Also, interest rates in private loan banks are very high. I thought more about it and decided to put the damn MBA studies on hold and wait until I can change jobs and let an employer pay the thing for me.
My advice is for people to watch out carefully. MBA can get very expensive and you may just actually making your hosts happier, not necessarily you !

A course in history will teach us what Gandhi did for rights of Indians in South Africa, who were oppressed and had to pay more taxes than anyone else. He fought for those people. If we could even manage to perform a percentile of that , we maybe able to get our community's problems resolved. I am sure the people working in farms in SA had no rights and were treated like slaves, we however, are in much better position and different times than the late 19th century. Not sure we can get a Gandhi to lead us, but if we strive for Unity among the Retrogressed community we can defintely improve our situation.

I got laid off with a pending I-140 filed July 2006 along with I-485. I was told that as soon as those docs are filed my H1B becomes invalid. True? I still have an approved H1B receipt from another company valid thru Feb 2008. Can I still use it? Thank you.

if my previous company revoke my visa after the new copmany filed for the transfer will this be a reason for ins to deny my h1b transfer?
Once you get a receipt for your H1 transfer application you can start working for the new employer. From that point onwards your H1 application is linked to your new employer and no longer dependent on your old employer. I would suggest follow up with USCIS regarding your case.
