Lets not bash anyone here. IEEE might sound anti-immigrant on the surface in true sense, its only anti H1B for all the right reason. I am not trying to defend IEEE but just getting the facts straight. Please check the attached file which is a letter sent by IEEE-USA president to Gov of Minnasota.

I would think twice before calling them a friend to any of us; they are at best anti free-trade restrictionists minus the rabidity and political incorrectness of our "friends". i think if we are paying for something we should have the ownership it too.
lets format a reply saying that 5K is too much for the job...if they can give us their Data Model diagram, we can give them the code in a week without any cost.
This is an excellent idea and a great opportunity to show case our skills. How about IV offering as non-profit organization our expertise ( from members) to help with this and reduce cost and improving efficiency of this program for USCIS - FREE OF COST.
I am aware there might be many issues with data security etc here but at least we could propose this. As a fellow member suggested this should be a report that needs to be published every few months or so to make it transparent and traceable.Ooops wait, will it show the true picture of how efficient USCIS is if they do this? :D
I dont see it going anywhere, this is just stalling. They already have that kind of information if the statement from O'man office is any indication or they lied to the office. Either way we need to highlight this with the O'man's office first and then follow it up with Local senators and highlight it. This needs to go big way.
Getting them to give one off statement is not going to solve anything besides it might be only a starting price and might increase or are they charging the same $5000 every time somebody asks them for an update.

I guess they(morons, per your definition) are all techincally correct based on past memo's explaining USCIS stand on postmark dates,last working day in a month rule, the time at which the application was received(the revised bulletin was not yet published) etc etc

Calling USCIS is not going to help any single beneficiary. I guess this has been already answered by Oh. As long as we do not get away from concentrating too much on "Whats happening with my application?" we are going to sulk.

In this big black hole we are alone, not the govt. nor the lawyers really care for what goes with us. USCIS is just a money making machine for the govt. Rules are made complex and there are several layers of forms. I wonder why a person should go thru 2 stages before filing for I-485. Or why they have 5 different forms filled Labor/I-140/I-485/I-760/I-131 blah blah blah when they could just do it with 1 form like any other country have or may be 2 layers, labor and I-1485. There's no logic of having to file I-140/I-760/I-131. It's all money game...
AILA does not care about people its an organization to take care of lawyer's interest. When you file every year the lawyer can make money every year. So be rest assured they will make some noises but will not bite USCIS.

140 reached NSC on July 11.
Receipt date is July 17, attorney says they got it today, July 24.
So for those at NSC who filed within a day or two of me, mght be better to hold off for a couple of days before filing 485 with the colored sheet which will probably add some delays in the mailroom
