hey
I didnt mean to offend you... i really appreciate the awareness (and hope) that you have brought to this issue.
I apologize if my selection of words have hurt you or anybody else in this forum.
No offense taken. It just gets a bit frustrating when it feels like I am taking on all of this by myself. In fact, there have been a lot of frustrations in this process, but I won't go into them here, because most are personal and not relevant to the discussion. I haven't heard from the lawyers in two weeks, so I should probably touch base with them to see what is going on.

I'm not sure about the assumption that IEEE/US is anti-immigration group. They have lobbied for the PACE act in Senate and STEM act in the house: http://www.ieeeusa.org/policy/issues/innovation/index.asp
Both of them are for skilled immigrants. I cannot imagine that they will sabotage SKIL bill.
Yep. My impression is that IEEE USA is anti H1b, but it supports EB visa. For those who rail against desi consulting firms, IEEE USA is the friend, not the foe.

You still have time to arrange your plans and attend! Heres why you should come:
You have probably made up your mind not to attend the rally. Perhaps you think that already many people will attend and that one more or one less person (You) will not make a difference. But it will! In fact, lets not even think about whether one more or one less person will make a difference. Rather, I invite you to think this way: Do it because its right! Do it for yourself! Think to yourself that you would do this even if you were the only person attending the rally. Think of Gandhi. Think of Martin Luther King.
You have been very frustrated for years with this broken immigration system, right? Perhaps youve been stuck for years, no raises, spouse cannot work, children aging out? How many times have you wanted to tell Congress whats on your mind? This is likely your ONLY CHANCE to do so! Again, think of this in terms of you attending even if you were the only person attending. Attend because you are mad. Attend because you want to see change. Attend to make yourself visible, and make everyone out there know of your silent struggle. The silent struggle that you have had to put up for years. Even if thats all you do, you will feel better. People will know the unfairness that you have been treated with! Attend because IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO! If your friends are not attending, try to convince them, but if they choose not to go, dont let that influence you! Sometimes in life we have to do things just because they are right, no other reason. Will this rally work? Will lawmakers listen? Will my employer be mad that I took a day off? Will I have to spend $500 to get there? None of that matters! The only reason of why you should attend is because you have been abused, and you will not take it! You have dignity! You will go and tell Congress to stop messing with you unfairly. You have the power, freedom and OBLIGATION to do so! Your children will be proud of you. If you do not attend the rally, it will be a once-in-a-lifetime lost opportunity! LETS GO! WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a very bad experience with the the Fragomen, Philadelphia Office. We sent our signed forms on 2nd July and they delayed a month and filed only yesterday 2nd August.
They take things for granted unless you escalate to your HR and make sure that they are under pressure to act quick.

I am also worried. I called my attorneys office to inform them but of course like always he is in a meeting. I am sure this was an error but I am hoping its not call me optimistic but I like the smell of green card :)
Hopefully, as others suggested, it is a case where they took your 2004 RIR labor date and approved your current petition when that date was current.
Either way, wish you the very best.
Every approval means one less wasted visa number; and one person out of the GC queue.

To core IV team members,
Do we are sending any "thank you faxes "to the congress man who orginates the skill bill?
-----
To me it looks like a ploy by Republicans:
1) To fracture the support for CIR and isolate the undocumented workers
2) Republicans already enjoy support of the anti-immigration lobbies, what better than to add legal immigrant lobbies to their support base. Contradictory, yes, but a suave political move to confuse voters further.
Strategically, when one doesn't enjoy clear majority support, this is a perfect political move.
3) If this were a betting game, I would put my money on,"Nothing is going to happen on SKIL till after the Nov. elections" horse.
4) If Democrats win the House in Nov. the SKIL will have trouble, because it is sponsored by Republicans. If Republicans retain the house, well, SKIL bill would have served its purpose.
5) Even if House passes the SKIL bill Senate won't pass it because they already passed a comprehensive bill. They won't want to appear to be partial to legals and overlook the undocumented workers.
These are my thoughts on SKIL bill as it stands today, I may be wrong.

ClaiGC. Thanks a lot! Wasn't aware of these issues. Yeah, the biggest plus point is -->"EAD allows you to work any type/number of jobs that is the big PLUS though!" I hope this alone outweighs the cons of EAD :-) Freedom from employer slavery. And I assume the renewal can be done by the applicant rather than being dependent on the employer as in H-1.

Listen my friend I had a similar experience...
The phone receptionist in DC very rude, she behaves like indian babu's, she is very arrogant..
Long story short....
Embassy of India - Washington DC (http://www.indianembassy.org/newsite/RTI.asp)
go to the above link, send them the letter with 10 Rs (20 cents) money order, explain your issue, explain the behavior of receptionist, and ask them why it happened like that..they will have to call you..that is the law..
I did the same thing...
UNLESS WE REPORT THEY WILL NOT CHANGE

There are around 400 immigration litigation lawyers. If 10 members can volunteer and send this template it can be done. I am in between projects and I cannot devote any more time for this. If anybody takes control of this thread and contacting the lawyers I would be most happiest person. Pls don't tell me that there are no leaders in this group of 25,000 people who can do this miniscule task of contacting 400 lawyers and co-ordinating with them.

TEMPLATE LETTER
Sir/Madam,
We are a legal immigration association with more than 25,000 members in different visa statuses like H1-B etc. There is a per country quota which prevents any country from getting more than 9800 visas.
Visa Bulletin for February 2010 (http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_4611.html)
This effects permanent residency (both familty based and employment based)applicants from India, China, Mexico and Philippies only. For example an Indian engineer with a masters degree has to wait 7-8 years for his permanent residency while an engineer with a masters degree from Mauritius would get his green card immediately.
We would like to challenge this racist federal immigration law. We would greatly appreciate if your organisation can help us from doing so.

Jaime, your thought of having one more rally in Silicon Valley is a good one but again you are going to have the same crowd..!!
People in neighbouring states of DC did not make it , you tthink they will make it all the way to west coast! very doubtful!!
We should aim at bringing in more people to this family as possible..
Looks like a simultaneous rally on a weekend will be very effective!
And this time for the rally we will carry one one slogan banners
'SHORTEN THE WAIT FOR LEGAL IMMIGRANTS' or something similar!
just a thought!

I agree. The PD for Oct' Bulletin will probably somewhere in mid-end of 2003 and i don't think it'll ever go back to Current .... So what happens to all the 2006,2007 applications ???
EB3/ PD May 2003
If that's the case, why DOS made it unavailable? It could have maintained same June 2007 bulletin for rest of the year right? - Never understand, how their brain works?

Hi,
I have filed my H1 (premium processing)on 26th Sep and till now I didn't receive my H1 receipt.
What could be the reasons and how i Can track about my case.
Can I track my case? is there some number where i can call discuss about my case why I didn't receive my receipt
My Lawyer called the USCIS and they are saying that they are not able to generate the receipt number?
Is somebody else faced the same issue? what could be done now?

If you have plans of doing an MBA in future, then Canada would be a better option than US. Otherwise as uma001 points out, doors are closed for most professions except 38 occupations.
H1bslave, in your case your PD is Sep 5 EB2. I see something in the distant horizon. PD of 2007 and beyond or EB3-India I see no hope.
Atleast you can survive on a lifeboat called EAD and AC21.
Note that list of occupations changes constantly. I lived in Canada for 20 years after coming as PR on point system. It works well there, if you think money is not everything. Education is equally good. People, of course are far nicer and friendlier. Even border immigration and custom staff show a friendly face and attitude..

Just I485:
Isn't just I485 receipt enough -
c. If you are an applicant for adjustment of status, a copy of a USCIS receipt as evidence that you filed the adjustment application
( (a) AND (b) ) OR (c)
+ Photographs:
...or if you are in the United States and filing for advance parole document.
You must submit two identical color photographs of yourself taken within 30 days of the filing of this application.
(Photo spec on page 5 of http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-131instr.pdf)
Alongwith I131 and US$305
Note: When I filed EAD, I didn't do over documentation (refer to http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18737). In case of AP also overdocumentation should not be required.
I am not sure what you mean...

I dont mean to discourage folks here...
But here is what I have seen more often with MBA. Techies like programmers, business analysts in IT sector have done their MBAs from good schools and ended up doing the same job EVEN WITH GREENCARDS.
I have seen GC holders doing MBA and then after finishing MBA ending up with same job description with a 5% increase in pay.
So please do your research in HOW MBA is going to help you in your situation. Your job and your INTENDED JOB POST MBA may not really need you to have an MBA. And I have seen this way too often. So think before you pluck down 30,000 dollars on a degree that might do little benefit financially after you complete it.
