The American Academy of Nursing is NOT in poor light. Did you read their prescription for the nurses staffing and issues related to it?
With comments like these, we are digging our own grave. The issue is retrogression and not hopital and health care economics. I pay USD 14000 for a family of four and by god's grace, never been to one.
I know may of these nurses who are being exploited by the bodyshops like HLG. They pay a meagre salary to nurses and exploit them on signed contract. Please, please.. use your brains minus emotion.

1) reduced the medical procedures that nurses can do for their own selfish interests
2) deliberatly crafted the residecy rules to make it very hard for foreign doctors to get licensed in US.
3) AMA has a kind of alliance with another very powerful lobby
(pharma Lobby)
AMA (doctors) in turn says that imported drugs from canada are unsafe.
In turn pharma lobby backs the AMA lobby interests.
So what can IV work realistically:
Work against any increase of H1B or try to reduce it.
Work against EB visa grap by Schedule A
They only IV will be heard. Unless you set their houses(vested interests)
on fire then only you will be heard.

independence. In World War 1 they gave a false promise of independence if Indian National Congress (INC)
cooperated. Eventually with the non cooperation movement, the idea of keeping India as a colony became
fiancially unviable. Also britian was broke due to the 2 world wars.

i would like to move away from the focal issue of rally participation for a moment- only to broaden the question. yes i perfectly realize that there are many motivated members that had genuine compulsions of various kinds that did not allow them to consider being in DC. i could be one of them tomorrow. i also know that they are not the majority of non attendees. still, to again answer a previous question, 2,000 registrations was a pretty good number from a crowd that likes things handed out to them. my question though is related to other iv activities. going to a rally is a bigger decision, true. so how many of those who are espousing moralistic platitudes about "cheapening" and "not associating real people with userid's" or blaming chandu's words have participated in other actions? have you joined a state chapter? are you active in it? did you attend a meeting if you belong to an active chapter? if you have no chapter did you volunteer to start one? did you volunteer for pre rally activities? have you met your local lawmaker?
i could go on, but those are key questions. those who complain about trivia need to step up and show their own commitment. the way of this country is to petition government by lobbying your lawmakers. nothing cheap about that one. in fact it's an incredible experience, open and educational to say the least.
you and i do not participate in these things because "he said and she said', we do it for ourselves. please always remember that. set aside egos for a larger motive and see if it feels good....

To be frank there was momemtum and energy missing in DC and other states before the rally! I think there are many ignorant, many not willing and many not up to giving a day!
Have we tried to educate them about their situation today ..
IF many of us have been able to file I485 in JULY then its 'coz of IV and ONLY IV!!
If we stress on IV's acheivements .. eg. flower campaign & San jose Rally and outcome of these..Reversal of Visa Bulletin then I think people will try to understand..
Tell you what people with PD in the last 2 yrs have not shown up in big numbers! Only with PD as late as 2001,02,03,04,05 have been able to evaluate the seriuosness of the whole GC thing & able to visualise the waiting frustrations!! Lets bring in more of the recent yrs PD people so that they know HOW LUCKY they are Just 'coz of IV!!
I think most of PD's with 05, 06, 07 got a chance to apply I-485 and may be they thought tht they got their GC by applying I-485. They are happy for tht and didnt really understand the seriousness of the situation. This is just my thought. [No offense on all ppl who attended the rally with PD 05, 06, 07]

Look, i sympathize with you but you SHOULD HAVE poured in some money to start a parallel PERM application ..... PERM started from APR 2005 - you got almost 2 years +
My case is also like you but my Labor was 2 years old and applied just
before PERM and it went straightway to Phily Backlog center ... I thought
of applying for a Parallel PERM but mine was a RIR ( quicker) and Phily was saying that they would clear all Backog by SEP 2007 ( another 2 months)

Anybody has experience with ILTC (New York) ?
iltc.com -Heard about this Desi law firm, they were handling my friend's GC filing , according to him they were not aware of latest filing updates & sent some I-485s to Vermont & California (based on I-140 approval) in May/June including his 485 & all those guys are screwed up now as dates are not current for them now.
It also appears they didn't send all the initial evidence documents that were mentioned in I-485 form.

To pbojja, your post shows how you may have completely misconstrued my post. I haven't written the post out of frustration of not being EB-1/2 at all. And am I dreaming when I hear you say that good English speaking skills aren't important in the U.S? Maybe I am in another world. I said clearly that the 'fraud' desi firms and their employees have tarnished India's image. They should be removed from the system and we should be in line with 'genuine' cases. What's wrong with that? Where's the unfairness here?

Focus on removing country quotas, release the numbers lost, get GCs for 5-10 year waiting folks, get citizenships for anyonne more than 10 years legally in US, project yourself with good things. There can be 100s of bugs in the system, but this is not the time to cleanup.

Its only going to take 5 people to break away from the 64. Those 35 "No" votes are the ones who want CIR dead NOW. They are not going to change. But those 64, its only going to take 5 people to walk away.
There are 24 amendments. I think atleast 5 people would see their amendments fail on the floor of the house and probably another 5 atleast who would withdraw support because someone else's amendment passed. This baby is going DOWWWNNN this weekend per my estimate. I could be wrong but again, 24 amendments ? That's too many darts on a fragile compromise.
as far as i know Reid is smart about this thats why hes using the "clay pigeon" manuevre where all the 24 amendments would be tied as one amendment and then voted to pass on, once its passed then the cloture vote will come in (without the individual amdts yet voted on) once the cloture vote is secured then they will have 30 hours to vote all the individual 24 amdts after whc a simple majority vote ( min 51 votes) wud be needed to clear the bill...real smart

My wife and me are coming all the way from Seattle. We are so proud to be part of the Rally. After being a victim of back log center, retrogression, filing 485 was a relief. However there are long ways to go, we think about the the people who are just filing the labor, people who are still stuck in backlog centers, and probably our 485 application who knows may be stuck in name check, the whole GC process is flawed. I have been a member a long time, now I get to meet all of you! I appreciate each of you guys who volunteer and spend selfless hours in support of a cause that is critical for anyone aspiring to be a legal permanent resident! The best way to thank everyone is to SHOW UP!

I think it is very simple to understand. It clearly says it's free for people who filed their adjust of status application (I-485) under new file structure. Since we(most of us) filed under old file structure, we'll always be paying $340. Point numbers no. 5. is about AOS application and not about EAD appl.

What was said at on BusinessWeek was just the old story again;just one side of the story. The truth is that you are setting yourself for disappointment if you expect this to turn into reality. Just relax, contribute to IV and save the rest of your money. Keep your expectations low, folks and we will get there.
Based on last week's BusinessWeek article, I have a feeling that we will see an effort to restrict initial H1B applications in some way. That would be a good opportunity to push for allowing naturalization applications for people who have been on work visas for a long time (say 8-10 yrs?). Fighting for citizenship would have a stronger emotional dimension and may connect better with the American public. A direct filing for citizenship will work around retrogression by providing an avenue for people to move out of the GC queue.

I see a lot of boiling blood and nice thoughts, If we can find out How much it would cost to pull out a Half page or Full Page AD on prominent news paper like NY Times or WSJ etc. Work on and create a fullpage/half page ad that would be a good start in opening eyes of congress/common people.
