If you liked the Aussie immigration so much, how come you are back in the US and in the GC nightmare?

what makes you think people participate in those? from personal experience
in the MN chapter, it's hard to even get replies to e mails, forget meetings etc. of late though i'm glad to say the MN chapter has really beugun to pick up again.
ask the tri state guys how much effort they put locally- meetings- fliers- phone calls, all by a handful of volunteers. so all this is good in theory and yes it takes time. but the apathy (even hostility) that was encountered was frightening. ask chanduv23 someday what the tri state guys went through...

the world is not fair, I am willing to fight my part to make it fair and just for all.
Kartik, as long as we, the EB3 do not come forward and collect huge amount for lobbying, we will continue to lurk here for many more years.
Unfortunately the sad part is, whatever lobbying is done actually helped only EB2 I, may be due to a wrong notion by USCIS that all Hi-tech immigrants are EB2. This could be a fact as there are thousands of 245 cases that fell into EB3.
Another bad thing was that USCIS release this VB yesterday which means one extra day to CRY.
I do not blame any one, but ourselves. We do not want to spend money and hence dying in this process. No solution, but cry at every VB day.

I think it is very simple to understand. It clearly says it's free for people who filed their adjust of status application (I-485) under new file structure. Since we(most of us) filed under old file structure, we'll always be paying $340. Point numbers no. 5. is about AOS application and not about EAD appl.

Its Free, if you read the EAD forms its clearly written that once some one pays $340 ( not other amount) it becomes FREE for ever. Now thats unfair .... you are just using one part of the quote to distort the entire post ... The discussion and context of that statement was always on categories.... and was using that sentence as an example on categories...
The assumption was that readers would understand categories over individual qualifications/countries of origin in this context

No need to jump the gun. I didn't ask it at a personal level, in case you didn't understand it! Instead of nitpicking on a single statement, read the whole paragraph! I am a member of a state chapter and keep posting on the Yahoogroups, though it's been a month since anyone else posted there ( and I don't get any replies).
I'm not getting into personal level/ad hominem discussion as it's pointless. I don't need to prove anything to anybody.
Here is the deal, the idea of state chapters is for grass roots organization. We can't reach out to everyone if we don't have remote hubs, it is as simple as that. We recently revived the WA state chapter and I keep sending emails, one or two respond, the rest are silent readers. However they did join the group and we are now 30+ members. Now, we plan to have a conference call and then we are planning to get together within 2 weeks to meet all of these members. No one is forced, but we would send out and invitation to every member. Then we come out with certain agendas and action items that fall within IV goals. Like one of the main things is to meet local law makers within each state for follow up. This is best done at state level. So I understand the part that you care confused is nothing is happening and you just keep writing. I know the feeling but can you get everyone together, can you get to meet them one by one. Trust me, once you get the ball rolling, before you know, you will have a big strong chapter that makes it easier to pass targeted messages and so on. When IV events are held in a national level, information and action items can be distributed to state chapter leaders who can then follow up.
But yes, it is hard work in the beginning to get every one on board, trust me, I am fighting the same battle, but hard work pays off!

It is a vicious cycle whole year round to update one or the other document in different points of time. It is becoming a nightmare when we could do something useful instead.
And yes you are very right that I am responsible for my own choice, but after spending 10 years of my prime life and youth I think there are vey few options otherwise. More importantly when you have kids grown up and more assimilated here. You don't want to force your will on them. I hope you understand what I mean.

1. No single entity - not the President, Senate, House of Representatives, state Governors, nor anyone else - has the power to overturn a US Supreme Court ruling. Supreme Court decisions cannot be nullified by other parts of government.
2. If the Supreme Court strikes down a federal law, Congress can always modify the law until it is such that the Supreme Court does not consider it to violate the U.S. Constitution. Then they would have to vote to pass the new law, and the President would sign it.
3. The Supreme court can overrule its own rulings.
4. Congress can rewrite a law to conform with Constitutional standards.
5. The Constitution can be amended. This would require a two-thirds vote of both houses of Congress, and ratification by three-quarters of the states (actually, at least 39).
If you think a law is unconstitutional then it can be challenged in the court. For example, there was an article in WSJ about some lawyers planning to challenge the health care bill once it becomes a law. One of the reasons: the health care law would require a person to buy health insurance, which infringes upon constitutionally guaranteed individual right of freedom. Now not to deflect from the topic of this thread, the bottomline is if you think the law is unconstitutional then you can challenge the law in the court.
The Key Point: Equal opportunity employement advancement is protected by Constitution ("Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII)")and hence the Supreme Court can overturn the per country quota limitation if the Supreme Court finds that the per country quota leads to discrimination at employment, which is unconstitutional.

Are you kidding me? You are recommending http://www.usabal.com/ aka Berry, Appleman & Leiden LLP? DO NOT USE THIS LAW FIRM. RUN AWAY FROM IT AS FAST AS YOU CAN. They totally screwed up my case. My PD became current on June. I asked them repeadtly to file my 485. And I asked them for like 1 1/2 month. But they waited till July to file my case. So, I was affected by this visa fiasco. Their lawyer do not answer phone calls, they don't return voic mail and they do not response to email for 3-4 days. It is a totally BS firm. If possible go with small immigration law firm.
I agree. My case was approved online in early June, I kept asking them if they received papers from BEC, and they would not even take the time to check. As a result, I was unable to file in June even with a current PD. I ended up filing in July.
